Tim Theisen created ghostview 1.5. , which was the starting point of gv.

Peter Deutsch is the author of the ghostscript interpreter, without which gv would be not more than an empty hull.

Kaleb S.Keithley turned Xaw into the extremely nice Xaw3d widget set.

Keith Packard invented the Layout widget, the heart of gv's widget tree.

I'd like to thank Martin Buck (Martin-2.Buck@student.uni-ulm.de) for not only extensively checking gv on Linux, Solaris, Irix and HP/UX but also for his suggestions, bug reports, bug fixes and discussions. Bjorn Nilsson (Bjorn.S.Nilsson@nbi.dk) put a lot of time into checking and fixing gv on Digital UNIX.

Tim Adye (adye@v2.rl.ac.uk) and William Bader (william@nscs.fast.net) contributed large amounts of code to the recent versions of gv. Hopefully they are not too busy fixing the bugs that I built in when merging their patches into the code :-)

Many thanks also to all those who sent me suggestions, bug fixes and workarounds for portability problems for FreeBSD, SunOS, AIX and other operating systems.

Finally I'd like to thank Jim Jennis (jhjennis2@mmm.com) for carefully testing all versions of gv.
